MATERIALS
Pillow form
Decorator fabric (amount depends on size of the pillow)
Contrasting fabric for flange
Matching sewing thread
INSTRUCTIONS
Measure the pillow form, adding 1⁄2 inch on all sides for seam allowances. Cut two pieces of fabric to these measurements. For a 2-inch-wide flange, cut four 3-inch-wide strips the height of your pillow. Cut four more 3-inch-wide strips the width of your pillow plus 5 inches.
With right sides together, sew a strip to each short side of the pillow front. Press seam allowances toward the pillow body. With right sides together, sew a strip to each long side of the pillow front, extending over the flange strips (see Diagram A). Press the seam allowances toward the pillow body. Repeat for the pillow back piece.

Diagram A
With right sides together, sew the pillow front to the pillow back along the flange edges, leaving an opening for turning (see Diagram B). Turn right side out.

Diagram B
Pin the pillow front and back together along the line where the flange connects to the pillow body. Sew "in the ditch" along the seam line all the way around the pillow, leaving an opening for inserting the pillow form. Press.
Insert the pillow form and machine-stitch the rest of the way around the flange/body seam (see Diagram C). If your form fits tightly into the pillow, you may find it easiest to stitch this last section closed using your sewing machine's zipper foot.

Diagram C
Slip-stitch the flange opening closed. Hand-sew a trim along the line where the flange connects to the pillow body, if desired.
